George R.R. Martin, the author of “A Song of Ice and Fire” recently donated some signed scripts of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” to charity auction house WolrdCon. He had the show staff mail them over from Ireland, however, when the envelope arrived, the scripts were missing.

The envelope had been torn open, with a “sorry for the damage” note from the USPS. According to Martin, he believed it was due to tampering and theft.

“The envelope was torn open at one end, and both scripts were gone, though Dan’s letter remained.

I am convinced the scripts were stolen.”

The author is now publicly asking the culprit to return the scripts so they can be auctioned for charity. Additionally, he’s asking fans to keep an eye out for the missing scripts in case they popup somewhere on eBay or similar sites.

“I am putting out the word to all my fans and readers. Whoever sold these scripts will presumably try to cash in at some point. So if any of you ever see scripts fitting this description turn up on ebay, one of its competitors, or on some dealer’s table — notify me at once, and report the stolen property to whatever local authorities are appropriate.

Like Bloodraven, I have a thousand eyes and one. So let’s keep ’em all peeled, boys and girls.”

The missing scripts in question include “[T]wo teleplays, final shooting scripts for episodes nine and ten of season one, “Baelor” and “Fire and Blood,” autographed by writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and director Alan Taylor, printed on white paper.”
