Sad news today as we’ve just learned that Jim Carroll, actor, Poet, musician has died of a heart attack. Carroll was known a tremendous talent known for his work with everyone from Andy Warhol to Pearl Jam was most widely known for his 1978 book, “The Basketball Diaries” and his punk song, “People Who Died.”

He gained critical acclaim through his poetry which drew fans that included Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, just to name a few.

While his work often showed the darker side of reality, as Patti Smith said, “In 1970, He was pretty much universally recognized as the best poet of his generation and the work he did was sophisticated and elegant.”

He will be missed.
