There’s a lot of questions in the air about Pacific Rim 2. How will Daredevil showrunner, Steven S. DeKnight do as a replacement director for Guillermo Del Toro? How much involvement will Del Toro have in the sequel? How come none of the original surviving cast: Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Hunnam, have been confirmed. More importantly, why has Hunnam decided to “sit out the sequel”?

What we do know is this. The new film is titled: Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. John Boyega has signed on to play the son of Idris Elba’s character from the last film. Scott Eastwood has signed on for a yet to be named part. Finally, today, we’ve just learned that Newcomer Cailee Spaeny, has just been cast as the film’s female lead. We don’t know much about her, as she’s only appeared in one film so far, but here’s a video of her singing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” from 2012.
