The Rumor Mill is gearing up against the upcoming Star Wars film: ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’. It’s not really all that surprising. Star Wars is at the top of the heap and the higher you rise, the more people are looking to kick the ladder out from under you.

Let’s check out this rumor and see if we need to be worried. According to the gossip column, the film was recently screened to less than enthusiastic Disney executives and is now heading back to the drawing board for some extensive (and expensive) reshoots.

The source for Page Six added: “Disney won’t take a back seat, and is demanding changes, as the movie isn’t testing well.”

Does this mean the movie sucks? Probably not. I’d be curious to know if JJ Abrams was part of the team that made the decision on reshoots. This is just the second big movie made by Gareth Edwards after Godzilla. It’s understandable for the suits to be nervous, especially since this is the very first venture into the cinematic expanded universe of Star Wars. If this one fails, it could hurt that new branch of the brand. I just hope that the execs don’t get too involved and take a film that is good, but different and turn it into something that the same and just ok.

In fact, here’s what another Disney Source had to say:
“The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting. Coming off ‘The Force Awakens,’ there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can.”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens December 16th and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed, and Ben Mendelsohn.
