Actor Aaron Eckhart who played Gotham DA Harvey Dent/Two-Face from “The Dark Knight Returns” has officially confirmed that his character will not show up in Christopher Nolan’s next Batman installment, “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Here’s what Eckhart told MTV:

“Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us. I said, ‘Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I’m in the next ‘Batman.’ And Chris said, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘Am I?’ He looked at me and he said, ‘No.'” He added that he wasn’t joking about the beach part and said that they “found ourselves alone on the beach together on a stormy day and he delivered the news to me. I was heartbroken. But Chris has his reasons and my life must go on… Honestly, it was Heath’s movie to go on. We had a great movie. I’m so honored to be a part of that movie.

This is kind of disappointing as I, and I’m sure many others, really wanted to see Two-Face return. But I’m sure the news is hitting Eckhart even more who had always teased that he may or may not be in the third film. I guess Nolan is finally putting that rumor to rest.

Eckhart isn’t bitter however, adding how The Dark Knight Rises “is going to blow everybody away.”
