Adrien Brody is set to join the upcoming reboot of “Predator” in a role of a “a heroic mercenary who battles to keep his team alive when its members are hunted by the aliens.” Yea, I bet no one saw that coming.

While Brody is definitely no stranger to action roles and was fantastic as Jack Driscoll in Peter Jackson’s “King Kong,” he is best known for dramatic roles in films like Polanski’s “The Pianist,” or quirky indie flicks like “Hollywoodland” and “The Darjeeling Ltd.”

According to Empire, Brody and his agents apparently lobbied hard for this role in the new “Predator” and has already even signed up for sequels.

Brody will join a colorful cast that includes: Danny Trejo, Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Walton Goggins (Detective Vendrell from The Shield), Ultimate Fighter Oleg Taktarov, and Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, who was Tizzy in Benjamin Button.

Shooting for “Predator” begins shortly in Hawaii and Texas.
