Word came down just a little while ago that Angela Bassett is joining the cast of Marvel’s Black Panther. The role she’s been cast for? Bassett will play T’Challa’s mother, Romonda. The adition of Bassett to the cast brings even more talent than possibly any other Marvel film into one place at one time. Doctor Strange was a good start, but now we’ve got: Bassett, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Claw, Winston Duke as M’Baka, aka “Man-Ape”, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, and Florence Kasumba as T’Challa’s personal guard, the Dora Milaje.
This is going to be a film that even the snobbiest of film snob has trouble turning their nose up at without giving it a shot.
Black Panther starts filming early 2017.
