Marvel Studios has been pretty tight-lipped about the plot of the upcoming Captain Marvel film. While we probably won’t know the whole truth until the film hits theaters next March, we do now know that the film is heavily based on the Captain Marvel comics written by Kelly Sue DeConnick. Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige recently addressed this in an interview:

“The history of Captain Marvel and is rather confusing, but the one we’re doing is based on Carol Danvers and in particular the Kelly Sue DeConnick run, which has only been around the last few years.”

Die-hard fans have already noticed at least one aspect of DeConnick’s run in a recent trailer when they saw Carol Danvers’ costume and her cat Chewie. In fact, you can see Chewie’s butt off to the side of the film’s teaser poster. It will be interesting to see what else they pull for the new film.
