Sandy Collora’s “Batman: Dead End” may be the most renowned, but it doesn’t mean there’s no room for more Batman fan films. Enter writer/director/producer Aaron Schoenke, the creator of the new fan-made Batman short, “City of Scars.”

This 30-minute mini masterpiece was shot in 21 days using HD cameras and a staggering $27,000 budget. Like “Batman: Dead End” it’s a high production value piece that features the Joker as the primary villain with guest appearances by Scarface, Harley Quinn, Black Canary and more.

Despite “Dead End’s” outstanding production value, it was always just “OK” to me because let’s be honest. It was more of an action brawler than a story. Enter Schoenke’s “City Of Scar.” A psychological thriller that focuses on Batman being pushed past his psychological limits. In this aspect, “City Of Scar” is now my definitive Batman fan film.

It even comes with it’s own original soundtrack which can be heard throughout the credits.

Here’s the film’s complete synopsis:

When the Joker escapes from Arkham and murders the parents of a young boy, Batman recalls the pain of losing his own parents as a child. He is pushed past his limits to the point where his focus becomes revenge on all who stand in his way, including many of Gotham’s underworld. Finally, Batman is forced to look at the psychological profile of his own mind and except the consequences of his life to find resolve.

  1. Love the guest spots! Didn’t like the look of the Joker too much, but great acting. Love the voices especially. Could totally go into voice acting.
