This post is a combination of wishful thinking and fact. It turns out that life behind the scenes of Fifty Shades of Grey was just as crappy as the final result that soccer moms have been pouring their cash into.

“Writer,” E. L. James was in constant battles with the films writers and directors, and apparently, The stars (Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan) could not stand being in the same room with each other.

Now, with sequels announced… even though the film suffered epic box office drop offs in the weeks after release, there are new problems behind the scenes that (if we are lucky), could derail the whole trilogy.

So, what’s the problem? Well, first of, E.L. James is demanding more creative control (which is funny because there’s nothing creative at all about the source material). She has gone as far as to demand that she be allowed to write the scripts for the sequels.

Then, we’ve got the talent. They did this movie for almost nothing. They each got $250k and some bonuses tied to the box office numbers. The studio got away with paying them nothing because these big news roles are the kind of thing that can take a no name actor (like the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith) and turn them into household names. Dornan and Johnson now consider themselves in the same boat as the Twilight and Hunger Games casts, who were all able to turn 5 figure salaries into up to 10 million dollars in the case of Jennifer Lawrence.

Fans went to the first movie out of morbid curiosity. With a ballooning budget, the prospect of a sequel could become a lot less attractive to the studio. At least we can hope.
