I’ve never read the classic Manga, Blade of The Immortal, and I’ve honestly not seen many films from Takashi Miike, but it looks like there could be no better source material for the controversial director’s 100th film. Fans of Japanese cinema may know him for movies like Ichi the Killer, Audition, 13 Assassins, and Visitor Q, and a lot more.

If you aren’t familiar with the Manga, it’s a feudal tale about a man cursed with immortality, and the only way to cure him is if he kills enough evil men.

I don’t want to say too much about this before you see it, but it is gorey in the very best possible way and I can’t wait to see it when it’s released on November 3rd.

“Samurai Manji has taken a lot of lives, both innocent and guilty, and now lives life in feudal Japan as a criminal. After being cursed with immortality until he kills enough evil men, Manji meets a young girl who enlists him to be her body-guard. Swearing loyalty, protection and vengeance against the group of sword fighters who slaughtered her family, the unlikely duo set on a remarkable quest to make right against those who did them wrong.”
