JJ Abrams scored hits with both Cloverfield and the recent sequel, 10 Cloverfield Lane. Though the movies had very different angles and stories, they were part of the same universe and Abrams has always said that he planned a third film to bring the two stories together.
That brings us to ‘God Particle’. The movie is set for release in early 2017, and Abrams is producing it. In the new movie, which is directed by Julian Onah, astronauts who make a terrifying discovery while on a space station that orbits Earth.
Like ’10 CLoverfield Lane’ before it, we aren’t sure whether we are looking at an actual sequel/ prequel, or just another film in the same universe. Given that the monster in the original Cloverfield came from space, I think there’s a strong possibility that this movie may have a more direct connection than the last one.
We can hopefully expect to learn a little more when the first footage is released later today. God Particle will hit theaters on February 24, 2017 and stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl and Chris O’Dowd.
