If you were disappointed at the idea that you might be getting a movie about strong women teaming up to take on Batman instead of a dysfunctional and abusive romance film between a psycho and his victim, today is your lucky day!

It is being reported that David Ayer’s (Suicide Squad) Gotham City Sirens has gotten the axe in favor of a film that will focus on the relationship between Joker and Harley Quinn. Yes, this is in addition to the poorly conceived Joker origin tale that was announced late last night.

Given the critical and fan response to Suicide Squad, this isn’t exactly a move that should surprise anyone. It seems like Joss Whedon and Geoff Johns are moving quickly to retool the DCEU and remove things that fans hated (like Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor). It wouldn’t be all that surprising at this point, if they charge Clark and Bruce’s moms’ names.
