Guillermo Del Toro is probably one of the coolest directors out there. He’s got his hands in some of the best movies that will be coming out over the next several years and it seems like everything he touches goes 10 levels beyond the expectations.

He recently sat down with MTV to talk about his current project, ‘Pacific Rim’, the alien vs Giant Robot movie that will star Charlie Hunman, Charlie Day and Idris Elba. What he has to say about the scope of the movie and how they will be looking to the classic Japanese kaiju movies for inspiration is really exciting. He also takes some time to talk about the HP Lovecraft movie, ‘At the Mountains of Madness’, his upcoming Frankenstein film and his impression of the new Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men) film, ‘Gravity.

There was no word, however on the Disney Haunted Mansion film that he teased at Comic Con in 2010.
