The latest updates in the James Gunn/ Guardians of The Galaxy 3 story are in and it sounds more and more like his script is definitely going to be used in the film. Now, here’s the new news. As always, it’s all from unnamed sources, so most of it probably isn’t close to the truth.

– One report has Kevin Feige “Livid” about the firing. MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, who broke that news (from an unnamed source), went on to see that Feige is fighting from the inside to make sure they use Gunn’s script.

– Another report, from Deadline.com, is now saying that “backchannel” conversations between Marvel Studios and Disney to try and get Gunn back on as the Guardians 3 director.

Per Deadline:
“Sources said the Marvel contingent is trying to persuade Disney to explore a compromise that might bring Gunn back into the fold for Guardians 3,” says the trade in a story published this afternoon, “something that clearly would be best for the franchise. There is no clash or strong-arming here. I’m told it’s a discussion that comes in the wake of the whole cast declaring their loyalty to Gunn…One would have to label this 11th-hour approach a long shot, but the community is talking about it.”

One big question remains. Even if Disney decided that they wanted James Gunn back, would he want to return after all of this madness?
