Forty-eight years ago today, BBC viewers were introduced to The First Doctor (played by William Hartnell), his granddaughter Susan and the fantastic TARDIS time machine they used to travel the universe.

On November 23rd, 1963, the BBC aired the very first episode of “Dotor Who” titled, “An Unearthly Child.” The premiere episode showed off the TARDIS’s ability to time travel and whisked the Good Doctor back to Earth circa 100,000 BC, where he and his companions face a tribe of primitive humans.

Happy ‘Doctor Who’ 48th’s Anniversary!
