Two big casting announcements came out today for Peter Jackson’s ‘Hobbit: There and Back Again.” Luke Evans, who is known for his role in Clash of The Titans will be taking on the role of Bard The Grim. Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch, whose name already sounds like a Tolkien character, will be taking on the monumentally important voice over role of Smaug the dragon. Like his fellow actor Andy Serkis, Cumberbatch will be doing more than just providing a voice for the creature. He’ll actually be playing the
dragon via motion capture.

Before the first Hobbit film hits theaters in December of 2012, both actors will have a lot more screen time in other projects. Luke Evans has roles in both Immortals and The Three Musketeers. Cumberbatch will be playing parts in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse and Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy.
