Last night we posted the much hyped, MTV VMA teaser for ‘The Hunger Games’. MTV was so excited that they actually cut two mini teaser trailers just to hype the teaser. Now, it is looking like it may have blown up in their faces.

Fan reaction to the teaser, which was largely just Jennifer Lawrence running through the woods with a voice over by Josh Hutcherson, has been mixed to say the least.

It was so mixed that the film’s director, Gary Ross, has already come out to do some damage control.

Here’s what he told MTV:

“We’re still shooting, so unfortunately it’s just a teaser. We could only give you a little bit because we’re still down here making the movie,” he said. “But there’s a lot of things to come that I think are going to be hugely epic and very emotional and incredibly powerful.”

The epic and emotional and incredibly powerful ‘The Hunger Games’ comes out on March 23, 2012 and stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz
