variety is reporting that Nicolas Cage is in talks to join the Michel Gondry-directed Green Hornet movie. This news comes on the heels of the revelation that Stephen Chow dropped out of the role of sidekick Kato. You may also recall that chow was the director of the film until stepping down several months ago when Michael Gondry stepped up to the plate.
So what does this mean for the movie? Well, right now it means that it is going to be a bizzarre freakshow of odd casting. You’ve got Seth Rogen starring as the possibly comedic version of the Green Hornet. Currently there’s no one set to play his side-kick Kato. Next you’ve got Nicolas Cage possibly getting ready to play the big bad in the movie, (he’ll at least be better than Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin.) Finally, you’ve got Cameron Diaz somewhere in the mix.. probably as the love interest. This movie might just be worth going to see for the train wreck effect of it all.
