As everyone knows by now, Jeremy Renner has been cast to play Hawkeye in Joss Wehdon’s upcoming “The Avengers.” But what you may not know is that you may not have to wait until “The Avengers” to see Renner as his character Hawkeye.

According to TheWrap, Hawkeye is set to make a cameo appearance in “Thor.” In the past, Renner had been quoted saying:

“If I was a betting man, I would bet that Hawkeye would probably show up in Thor, and then be in The Avengers. But do I know for sure? I can’t say. But I’d love for that to happen. It’d be fun.”

Only to backtrack claiming that it “was just one of those things that got blown way out of proportion.”

But according to new information, Hawkeye will indeed make an appearance in “Thor”:

An individual who has seen an early cut of Thor confirmed to TheWrap that Renner’s Hawkeye appears in the film, although the person declined to elaborate on the context of the character’s appearance or when it will occur. They did, however, confirm Jackson’s earlier statements that Nick Fury does not appear in Thor.

While this isn’t official confirmation, there’s no reason to either doubt or not doubt it. Like all Marvel films, fans can expect a bundle of Easter Eggs and if one of them happens to be Renner in purple spandex as Hawkeye then so be it. I guess only time will tell.
