Remember the amazing “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth” clip from yesterday that has the entire Internet buzzing? Well it turns out it was a pitch to WB and former “Star Trek: Voyager” actress Jeri Ryan who played Sonya Blade in the clip confirms that.

According to Ryan, the mini film was part of a pitch that an unnamed director (Kevin Tancharoen) made for Warner Bros. to try and sell them on a film franchise reboot.

On her Twitter account she tweeted: “Okay, so… Mortal Kombat. It’s not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film. I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB’s reaction to it was. And I’m not sure how you can contact WB to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful…! ;-)”
