According to Deadline Joaquin Phoenix (Her) is reportedly in talks to star in Marvel Studios’ potential new franchise, “Doctor Strange.”
It seems to be it was just yesterday there were rampant rumors of Benedict Cumberbatch portraying the good doctor. Rumors of Phoenix aside, “Doctor Strange” may even be gearing up to go into production very soon. It’s been said that the studio and director Scott Derrickson are all waiting the new Jon Spaiths rewrite and as soon as that’s locked down, it’ll all be underway.
Whether Phoenix inks a deal is any one’s guess. For now it’s best to take this news with a grain of salt, considering Phoenix is notoriously known for being a picky actor. I guess we’ll know more after Marvel’s epic Hall H panel this Saturday. It could very well be that the casting announcement of Doctor Strange is the studio’s big big time surprise announcement…
