Sony knew that Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle was going to make money, but they could never have guessed that the sequel to a Robin Williams film from 20 years ago would become their highest grossing domestic film of all time. Let’s face it when a movie takes in $956,618,644 in total box office earnings, there’s just no way that the studio isn’t going to try and make a sequel. So, that’s exactly what they are doing.

At Cinemacon last night, Tom Rothman, the head of Sony Pictures announced that they’ll be releasing Jumani 3 just in time for Christmas 2019. That puts the film directly up against the release of Disney’s Star Wars: Episode IX. Rothman also confirmed that Dwayne Johnson would be returning for the film, but there’s currently no word on whether Kevin Hart, Jack Black, or Karen Gillan would be returning.
