Big news today on the long awaited Independence day sequel. Liam Hemsworth has now joined the cast and Jeff Goldblum has signed on to reprise his role from the original. Also, the film’s lead has been cast and be Jessie Usher, cast as the son of Will Smith’s character. Smith is not currently slated to appear in the film, but I’d be pretty surprised if they can’t at least wrangle him for a cameo.
Right now, there’s nothing known about the film, but we do know that (at least according to previous interviews), Roland Emmerich wanted to shoot two sequels back to back and he planned on setting them 20-25 years after the events of the first film.
