Yesterday, Netflix announced a slate of anime programming heading for their streaming networks including the classic Neon Genesis Evangelion and a new installment of the Ultraman saga. One of the biggest announcements, however, isn’t about their animated programming, it’s about their latest live-action adaptation of an anime. On the heels of the less than stellar adaptation of Deathnote, Netflix has decided that it would be a good idea to adapt Cowboy Bebop into live action.

The new series is currently slated for a 10-episode run and it will be based on the original 1998 anime about the adventures of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Fay Valentine and Radical Ed. This isn’t the first attempt to bring Cowboy Bebop to live action. At one point, it was set up for a film adaptation with Keanu Reeves as Spike.
