Disney has been rebooting all of their animated classics as live action movies and they’ve begun rebooting their classic TV Cartoons as new animated series. Now word has come out that one Disney Afternoon series will be finding new life as a live action film.

THR is reporting that The Disney Afternoon hit, Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers will soon be a live action/ CGI film. Helming the film will be The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer. Producing the film will be David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (The Muppets as well as Beauty and the Beast).

There is no word right now as to whether or not the film is heading to the big screen or if it will end up on Disney+ alongside the upcoming live-action adaptation of Lady And The Tramp.

Along with his work as part of The Lonely Island, Akiva Schaffer has also directed Popstar: Never Stop Stopping, and the Hulu comedy Pen15.

The original Rescue Rangers cartoon focused on a team of detectives made up of Chip, Dale, Gadget Hackwrench, and Zipper. The show featured the legendary voice talent of Corey Burton, Peter Cullen,
Jim Cummings, Tress MacNeille, Rob Paulsen, Alan Oppenheimer, and Noelle North.
