The Internet went crazy last week with the rumor that Matt Smith might be leaving “Doctor Who” next year, but all that has now been subsided as the Eleventh Doctor has publicly come out to reassure fans that he’s not done time traveling yet.

The rumor began when Smith told VH1 that he’d love to see what Hollywood has to offer, but he still had one year left on his Doctor Who contract. But in a new interview promoting the Doctor Who Series Six DVD set, Smith backtracked and reassured fans saying:

“We work very long hours every day for nine months. The schedule is pretty brutal, but I’d never complain about it. I love playing this role, and I don’t want to give it up anytime soon.”

“I feel very lucky. In the current climate for actors, I’d never say, ‘This is too much’ – quite the opposite, in fact. I’d say, ‘Bring it on’.”

This certainly is excellent news for Smith fans who were afraid that he may have been lured away by the allure of Hollywood before “Doctor Who’s” 50th anniversary in 2013.
