There are very few movies I’m looking forward to with more excitement and fear than Jason Segel’s new Muppet movie. The last movie, Muppet Wizard of Oz was so full of fail that i may as well have been watching a porcupine try to mate with a pin cushion. That would have at least been funny.
It seems like Segel is keeping true to at least one basic mainstay of Muppet films: celebrity cameos. He’s already stated that he has plans to drag as many of his celebrity buddies into the picture as possible.
Speaking to MTV, Segel revealed that he plans on bringing in as many of his buddies as possible. He says, “I’ve told all of my friends that I’ve written parts for them.” That could mean we’ll see the likes of Seth Rogen, James Franco, and some of the other Freaks & Geeks alums turned Apatow superstars.
One one hand this could be funny. On the other, I can see the movie turning into a series of poorly veiled stoner jokes and completely losing any of the charm it used to have. After giving Gonzo nipples and making cracks about Muppets gone wild int he last one, we’re closer to it than you’d think.
