FOX learned something really important from Logan, you don’t need spandex to make a hero. With that in mind, they have now announced that their upcoming ‘New Mutants’ film isn’t going to feature a single super hero costume.

It’s also been reported that the PG-13 film will focus on the team of teenage mutants who are dealing with the fact that they are at an age where they are most dangerous to themselves. A synopsis of the film sets a very dark tone for what we have in store:

“Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.”

To add to it, it’s now been announced that the film is not only going to not have a super villain that they go up against, but it also will be designed more like a horror film than a typical comic book movie.

Finally, we are also learning a lot more about the film’s casting. As previously announced, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams will be playing Magik and Anya Taylor-Joy has been tapped to play Wolfsbane. Additionally, we now also know that Rosario Dawson will be taking a “Professor X” style role in the film as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a former X-Man turned doctor who can generate force fields while Teenwolf’s Henry Zaga will be playing Sunspot.
