The cast of Josh Boone’s New Mutants film is filling up quickly. Along with recent announcements that Anya Taylor-Joy will be playing Magik, Maisie Williams has taken on Wolfsbane, and Rosario Dawson has been tapped to play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, It is now being reported that Charlie Heaton (Jonothan Bryers from Stranger Things) is wrapping up talks to take on the role of Sam Guthrie, aka Cannonball.

If you aren’t familiar with the character, the aptly named hero is a mutant that has the power of rocket propulsion. As a side effect, he is rendered invulnerable when in flight.

Buzz for the film has only increased since it was announced last week that it would be filmed more like a horror film, about the teens dealing with being trapped in a facility against their will while learning to cope with their powers, than a traditional comic book adaptation.

With the announcement of Heaton, that just leaves Danielle Moonstar, Sunspot, and Warlock to be cast before the film starts shooting in Boston this July.
