Prometheus did well enough at the box office that fans can rest assured that there will be a sequel to it… and no, we are not talking about Alien. While everyone was enthralled by the film’s marketing, a lot of people were left wanting by the actual film. Still, a great chunk of its success has been credited to writer Damon Lindelof. That is why it is slightly disconcerting that he might not actually be back to write the sequel.

FOX is planning the film for either 2014 or 2015 and they are talking to new writers because there’s a pretty solid chance that Lindelof himself might not be available. He’s already had to pass on fixing World War Z because he’s working on his new HBO series.

We can expect that Ridley Scott will be back for it. He’s already said that he wants to make it. He’s even actually said some thing about where the story would go.

““I know where it’s going. I know that to keep [David] alive is essential and to keep [Elizabeth] alive is essential and to go where they came from, not where I came from, is essential.””

Both Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are already under contract to return for a sequel. Now the just need to find some writers and get it ready for release sometime in the next 36 months.
