Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros have been reportedly scouting locations in Detroit which were described as a “water treatment plant” and “underground vault area.” Not much else is known about the location scout, but according to Ain’t It Cool News, the location is meant to be a hideout spot for Robin.

Here’s what AICN had to say about the location scout in Detroit:

According to Eaton County and Grand Ledge officials who didn’t want to be identified due to confidentiality agreements, production crews from “The Dark Knight Rises” scouted locations in Grand Ledge’s Fitzgerald Park last week.

They looked at the Ledges as well as a water treatment plant located inside the park. Sources say the area is being considered as a hideout for Batman sidekick Robin.

This is certainly something no one was expecting to hear. Especially since Nolan has been very vocal about not wanting to incorporate The Boy Wonder into his Batman movies. Personally, I’d consider this a rumor since nothing official has been confirmed. The third film seems to already be stacked with characters, especially with the recent rumor that Talia al Ghul would be the principal villain and Bane as her lover or bodyguard. I’m not sure if we really need more characters, and by more characters I mean Robin.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is set to be released on July 20th, 2012.
