There’s currently no way to tell if this is true, but if it is we now know who the main bad guy will be as well as the main love interest. Surprisingly, it’s not Ms. Jones, as we would have potentially expected.
Heroic Hollywood is claiming the scoop and here it is:
Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison.”
That would mean that we’ll be seeing Diamondback (the costumed name of Willy Stryker) in the show. It also means that this either takes place before the Jessica Jones series or the two have not yet become a couple as of Jones’ season 1.
I’m sure we’ll get something more on this soon as the series is set to begin filming within the next week or two.
There’s no word on who would be playing the two characters, but we do know that Alfre Woodard was recently cast as a lead villain, Minetta.
