“OMG guys! It looks like the Assassin’s Creed movie isn’t going to totally suck! Quick, let’s make as many video game movies as we can before people figure out we have no original ideas to share!” At least that’s what this is sounding like to me. Sega has just announced a partnership with the production company, Circle of Confusion (Straight Out Of Compton, The Walking Dead), that gives them rights to start making films based off the classic Sega game library. They don’t have carte blanche mind you; they only get two films to start out with.

The two films they’ll be starting with will be based on Altered Beast and Streets of Rage. You can bet that the movies will probably also be used as opportunities to relaunch the games with either sequels or reboots. Should the prove to be profitable, the next games on the list include Shinobi, Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, and House of the Dead (Wasn’t that one already a movie?).Amazingly, the list of possible adaptations even includes Crazy Taxi.

Of course, this all comes long after this past February’s news that we can look forward to a live action/ CGI Sonic The Hedgehog film. We can only hope that Jaleel White is available to provide the voice.
