Filming for Michael Bay’s upcoming “Transformers 3” was suspended Thursday after an accident left a 24-year-old woman in serious condition.

An elaborate car stunt was being shot on a closed highway when a cable connecting two cars snapped and whipped into another car causing it to spin out of control and crash. Gabriella Cedillo was inside the car when the accident occurred. Cedillo wasn’t a member of the stunt team, but rather an extra. She was immediately airlifted to the hospital. Reports indicate that she had suffered an injury to her head.
Currently there’s no word yet on her condition.

According to a local ABC affiliate, who spoke to a fellow extra, when the wire snapped, it sliced through the car and through Cedillo’s head. The car then slammed into the divider on a stretch of Cline Avenue and didn’t stop for about half a mile.

Thursday was scheduled to be the final day of Chicago shooting on the film, in Millennium Park, but the day was canceled.

Paramount/Dreamworks has yet to comment on the accident.
