Sucker Punch is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It looks like it will either be an epic pizza of awesomeness or big steaming bowl of goat testicles. Either way, people are psyched for it.

The movie might not be coming out for another ten days, but we do have a special treat for you today. An animated short that is tied to the film. The Trenches shows another side of the evil robot zombie monsters that the girls have to fight in the film. They are more than just soulless automatons and now we get to see their side of the story.

Here’s the short and the official synopsis:

THE TRENCHES: In Sucker Punch, the girls face off against an army of mechanized WWI soldiers. Through the use of clockwork and steam technology, human soldiers who die in battle are reanimated and sent back to the front lines. Although seemingly indistinguishable and soulless, the zombie army is not just made of gears and steam, but also of human flesh, bone, and memory. In “The Trenches” there is a tragic tale behind each lifeless mask.
