Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, who’s best known for her role as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish Millennium Trilogy “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “The Girl who Played with Fire,” and “The Girl who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest,” has been cast as the lead female role in Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes 2.”

Not much else is known about this role, other than this will be Rapace’s first English language film debut! Some sources close to the production say that she may be a French Gypsy, which I’m not quite sure how that’s going to fit into the Holmes universe.

Salander will join Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law who are both returning to the franchise and reprising their roles as Holmes and Watson. In the sequel Sherlock Holmes is foreshadowed to be facing off against Moriarty. According to THR Holmes’ brother Mycroft may also make an appearance.

Personally I cannot wait to see Noomi Rapace is Holmes 2, having loved her in Dragon Tattoo. With Holmes 2 on her plate, hopefully this marks the beginning of a fantastic career.
