Details are starting to trickle in, as Warner Home Video officially announced The Dark Knight coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 9, 2008.

According to our sources, although not yet 100% confirmed, there will be two Blu-ray SKUS for The Dark Knight: a standard edition ($35.99) and a two-disc Bat-Pod Limited Edition (TBA).

Both editions will be presented in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p video with 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio. While no confirmation exists on whether extras will differ between the standard edition and the limited edition, both are believed to be the same.

The Blu-ray Discs will also include “BD-Live,” a newly developed Blu-ray exclusive feature enabling fans to access content via internet-connected Blue-ray players.

Stay tune for more announcements and pre-order information.

  1. The only reason they are so expensive is due to their extra goodies. I mean that’s what the studios used to justify DVD. Face it, DVDs are nowthe VHS of 2008. I actually perfer Blu-rays over DVDs, but I hate their blue case ugh…
