One of my favorite bad movies from the 60’s, Day of The Triffids, is heading back to the big screen with a new remake and Mike Newell has been set to direct the picture.

If you aren’t familiar with the story, it’s the tale of an alien invasion in which carnivorous plants attack Earth after coming to the planet via a comet shower that blinds the majority of the human population.

Newell is a very interesting choice for a film that has so much camp built into it. His previous movies include: Four Weddings and a Funeral and Donnie Brasco, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Prince of Persia.
