Thanks to the production company, Filmnation Entertainment, “The Last Vampire” has just been picked up for a big screen adaptation.

The teen series by Christopher Pike is a series of six teen novels centered around Sita, a 5000 year-old vampire who has never aged past her teens. Talk about the ultimate cougar!

Obviously there’s a romance spin as it’s trying to follow and mimic the success of “Twilight.” Of course, FilmNation’s Aaron Ryder points out that “The Last Vampire” series actually predates Stephenie Meyer’s books on the bestseller lists. “We could not pass up the opportunity to bring to life one of the best characters of young adult fiction. We see this as the original teen vampire series that started the craze today.”

Ryder is expected to oversee production for FilmNation, along with Beatrice Springborn.
