The Mystery of the unexplained Isaiah Mustafa ‘Luke Cage’ Trailer

the geek world is in the midst of a great mystery! Isaiah Mustafa, the man who is most widely known as “Old Spice Guy” is not only a fellow comic book geek, but he has a serious desire to play the role of Luke Cage in a movie, TV show, Broadway musical or whatever else he can work out with the folks over at Marvel.

We know that Mustafa has spoken with Marvel at least once. This is what he had to say on the matter:

“I’ve already had a meeting with Marvel. I talked to them and I told them that I was a gracious reader of their comics and that I wanted to be Luke Cage. So we’ll see where they take it.”

Now this video has shown up featuring what looks like a movie trailer of Luke Cage starring Isaiah Mustafa. Many people think that this is either some sort of Old Spice viral marketing campaign (doubt it) or that it could be Mustafa himself kicking up his personal campaign to play the role.

The production quality is around the same level as the recent Mortal Kombat web series which featured Jeri Ryan.

There is also another possibility, especially now that Marvel is part of the Disney family. A few years ago, at comic con, Disney released some cgi test footage of light cycles. It was fan and online reaction to that footage that convinced Disney to move forward and make ‘Tron Legacy’. This could be Disney dipping their toe in the water to see if the fans really do want to see a Luke Cage film and if they want Mustafa to play the role.

Who knows, if it works out, maybe there is still time to have him pop up in ‘The Avengers’ in a cameo.
