Deadline is reporting that Tom Cruise has signed on to star in and produce Mission Impossible 5. This is a little bit of a surprise as it was generally thought that the last film would be the Transition film for Jeremy Renner to take over the franchise.
There is no news currently on who will be writing or directing the new film from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, but Cruise will definitely be back in the starring position as Ethan Hunt. Right now, speculation is that Christopher McQuarrie, the man who just wrote and directed Jack Reacher with Cruise will most likely take the helm.
