According to an article from LA Times, there’s been much a stir about bringing Marvel’s urban hero Luke Cage, AKA Power Man to the big screens. In fact, so much so that a notable Hollywood star is now having preliminary talks with Marvel Studios about the property and its potential for big screen adaptation!

This rumor is further strength by the fact that Marvel and Disney are both actively committed in bringing more Marvel B and C list heroes to life with their new initiative of venturing into smaller budget superhero flicks.

Created by Archie Goodwin and John Romita Sr. I’ve always loved Luke Cage, despite originally starting out as Marvel’s entry into the 1970s blaxploitation trend. But recently, he’s been an integral character in the Marvel universe thanks to writer Brian Michael Bendis (Alias, Secret War, New Avengers, Daredevil).

Personally, I’d want to see a solo Cage and Iron Fist film. And then a third where they team up to form “Heroes for Hire.” A comic nerd can dream, right?

My vote for Luke Cage? Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris, The Expendables, Terminator Salvation), he’s got the build, the look and the attitude. make it happen Hollywood. And if you cast Dwayne Johnson I will forever hate you and boycott every single one of Marvel/Disney’s small budget superhero flicks. Don’t try me, I’m a man of my word.
