If you’d have asked me who would star in a horror style film based around Venom from Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, I’m not sure that Tom Hardy or Michelle Williams would be anywhere near the top of the list. Yet, that is exactly what Variety is now reporting.
According to the report, Williams will play an as of yet unnamed district attorney who is quite possibly also the love interest of Tom Hardy’s character. So, if you were expecting a Venom film that was anywhere near the character from the comics, you can forget it. Of course, you knew that the second they said that Spider-Man wouldn’t appear in it…
The good news here is that there is the possibility that Sony could create something original and interesting with Venom and the darker side of the Spiderverse that they are choosing to use for this film. I mean… probably not, but it could happen.
