We’ve been dreaming about a third Bill and Ted movies for years and we’ve been teased by rumors of it happening for what feels like the last decade. It’s been 28 years since Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey hit the big screen and three decades since they first appeared in theaters in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Now we know that Bill S. Preston Esq and Ted Theodore Logan will be making their way back to the movies when Bill & Ted Face The Music on August 21, 2020.

Other than Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, we aren’t sure who will be coming back from the original films or how they plan to deal with the absence of Rufus (George Carlin). The film will be directed by Galaxy Quest director, Dean Parisot and is based on a script from original franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. The most interesting news on the producer side of things is that Steven Soderbergh will be executive producing the film.

Here’s the synopsis for the new film:
Following 1989’s “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and 1991’s “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.
