For a show that goes to extreme lengths to keep spoilers from hitting the public, especially about show deaths, there’s one thing they can’t control. Other TV Networks. The Walking Dead’ Star Sonequa Martin-Green has just been named as the female lead in the upcoming CBS series ‘Star Trek: Discovery’. You can pretty much bet that there’s not enough hours in the day to run from zombies and captain a Federation starship, despite claims that she’ll be continuing her stint on the popular AMC drama.

Martin-Green, who plays Sasha on The Walking Dead, has been cast as the lieutenant commander the show’s main spaceship. She’s joining a cast that currently also includes Michelle Yeoh, who has been cast as the captain of the Starship Shenzhou, DOug Jones, who is set to play a alien species as Lt. Saru the main Starfleet Science Officer, Anthony Rapp (Rent), as The Star Trek Universe’s first gay character (If you don’t count Sulu from the last film), Lt. Stamets, an “astromycologist,” fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery, and Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo as a trio of Klingons — T’Kuvma (Obi), a leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses; Kol (Latif), a Klingon Commanding Officer and protege of T’Kuvma; and L’Rell (Chieffo), the Battle Deck Commander of a Klingon ship.

Star Trek Discovery launches on CBS’s online subscription service in May of 2017.
