It was a pretty big weekend at the boxoffice. There were tons of new releases and some pretty big surprises at their standings when the dust cleared. First up is the weekend’s winner, Zombieland, with $25 million. Right behind it was the much scarier tale of a food based apocalypse, Cloudy with a Chance Of Meatballs, which dropped to $16.7 million for the weekend. Coming in 3rd in what sounds like a repeat from the 90’s is the 3D double feature of Pixar’s Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Woody and Buzz brought in an impressive $12.5 million considering there is no way most parents would ever try to get their kids to sit in a movie theater for two whole movies. Ricky Gervaise and Jennifer Garner took #4 with their new comedy, The Invention of Lying. That was the last of the new releases to hit the top 5 as Surrogates took that slot with $7.34 million.

Two pretty big releases actually tied for the the #6 slot this week. Capitalism a Love story and Drew Barrymore’s Directorial debut, Whip It, each earned a relatively anemic $4.85 million for the weekend when both were expected to do much better.
