Goji Play

The Goji Play is the latest invention from the creator of Guitar Hero. This difference is, instead of playing games and pretending you can rock, you are actually playing a game to trick you into forgetting that you are actually working out. If you have a friend who loves video games, but hates exercise, this is a great gift. Using your cell phone and any piece of cardio equipment (treadmills, exercise bikes, ellipticals ), you can convert your workout into a trip to the arcade. You just clip the sensor to your body like a fitbit and then sync up the wireless controllers to your phone or tablet. It becomes your gaming screen and you are off to the races playing 20 different games ranging from jet ski racing, to boxing, puzzle games and more. The harder you work out, the faster you go in the games and the harder you hit your opponents. Sadly, they haven’t set it up to make WoW players get on a treadmill during quests, but for everyone else, this is one of the coolest new advancements in video gaming and health that we’ve seen in a long time.

Dino Pets

Sea Monkeys can go suck Barnacles. THe Dino Pets are here and they are way cooler. Who needs brine shrimp when you can have bioluminescent dinoflagellates. Ya, that’s right… Living sea creatures that inhabit a see through dinosaur and glow in the dark. There really isn’t much cooler than that. That said, as awesome as the Dino Pet from Bio Pop is, we want to make sure you don’t get it for really little kids. These little dinoflagellates don’t need much care, but they do require a little patience before the glowing really gets cooking. Because of that, we’d probably say to aim this towards kids 12-120.

iFetch

Do you have a smaller dog who loves to play catch? This is the perfect gift for your four-legged friend. iFetch is a super awesome device that does the playing for you. You just turn it on and your dog and iFetch do the rest. All you have to do is drop the balls into the top of the machine (your dog will figure this part out really fast) and then it will toss the balls for you. It works great indoors, and you can even adjust how far it throws the ball, just in case you don’t want your dog tearing all the way across the house. Our one word of caution would be this. This is best for smaller dogs. The balls that come with the iFetch are 1.5 inches. It is great for Yorkies, Pugs, Dachshunds, and the like, but we wouldn’t recommend it for larger dogs.

GearBrake Smart Brake Light Module

If you’ve got someone in your life who rides a motorcycle or scooter, this might be the most important gift item that we’ve ever featured in our annual gift guides. Every year, several riders are rear-ended by cars because the drivers didn’t see that they had decelerated. Unlike when you actually brake, no light comes on in the back of a motorcycle to let the cars behind it know that it will be slowing down. With very little effort, this tiny box can be installed into any bike or scooter and it will prevent just that kind of accident. When the rider takes their foot off the gas, the brake lights flash to let the drivers behind them know that they are slowing down. The result is a safer ride and your loved one gets home safe. That is just about the best gift you could give. Check it out in action:

Tikker - The Happiness Watch

What do you get for the person in your life who is taking it all for granted? How about a watch that reminds them how precious each moment is by counting down the seconds until their demise. The way the simple, yet stylish watches work is that you just use the handbook to calculate how long you have left before you shuffle off this mortal coil and then just pop it on to your wrist. Now, every time you look at it, you’ll be reminded of how important it is to live each life to the fullest. If you really want to drive the point home when you give it to someone, do the calculations for them, so that time will already be winding down when they open the box.

Decibullz - Custom Molded earphones

Earbuds are really the best way to go when you are working out or on the go, but it can be nearly impossible to find a pair that actually fits your ears well. After a while, most earbuds either start to hurt or they make your ears feel blocked. That’s because no two people have identical ears. They are kind of like fingerprints (Really, I even saw them use an ear print to catch a killer on CSI once). Enter Decibullz. These are the first customizable headphones designed to fit anyone. They are actually really simple to use. When you get them, you just take the ear bud portion out and put it into hot water, then, take it out, dry it off, snap in the earphone wire and put it in your ear. All you do is just push it around a bit and shape it to your ear. After that, you’ve got your very own custom set of headphones that fits you perfectly. They sound just as great as they feel.

Storm Water Resistant MP3 player

We hate bringing our phones and tablets near the water. It’s a recipe for disaster and eventually we are going to run out of fresh rice to try and absorb the moisture from them when we inevitably drop them in. The Storm Water Resistant MP3 player is a great solution to the problem. This new water resistant mp3 player not only sounds great, but it won’t crap out on you when you get it wet. Not only can you bring it out by tyhe pool without having to worry, but you can even mount it to the wall in the shower. With over 70 hours of playtime before you have to put in new batteries, you are either going to have a year’s worth of music in the shower, or the world’s worst water bill. It may seem a little low tech in some ways, but the number of times we’ve lost bluetooth connectivity with other speakers, or had to worry about getting a drop of water on something playing our music, the Storm is a great solution.

Pop Clocky

Got someone in your life who sucks at waking up in the morning? Whether they are always running late for work or for school, The Pop Clocky is one of the coolest, and weirdest gifts you can get them. This little monster of a mobile alarm clock has a feature that sets it apart from the pack. When the alarm goes off, so does the monster’s head. It pops right off and rolls onto the floor. The only way to get the alarm to stop is to get out of bed and retrieve the head. Only when it is placed back on the body will the alarm stop… and by then, you are already awake.
