MIT graduate student David Merrill has invented a new block toy named Siftables — cookie-sized, computerized tiles you can stack and shuffle in your hands. What’s incredible about these computerized toy blocks is that they can do virtually anything from computing math, display images, play music and games, or simply interact with one another and their surroundings.
It’s really hard to describe them because the concept is so new. But it appears as if colored wooden blocks on yesteryears are about to go the way of the dodo bird. Are Siftables the next thing in hands-on learning? I’d reckon so!
