Hugo Weaving is in negotiations with Marvel Studios to play the villain Red Skull in Joe Johnston’s “The First Avenger: Captain America.”

It’s reported that Krasinski is no longer in the running. And those still in include Chris Evans, Garrett Hedlund, Wilson Betheland to an extent Mike Vogel.

“The Office’s” John Krasinski is very close to becoming Captain American in Joe Johnston’s “The First Avengers: Captain America” that will propel him from a comedic sitcom star to an action hero.

“The First Avenger: Captain America” may not open this year, but it doesn’t means fans can’t get in on the hype.

“We have a very short list, but we’re still juggling actors here. I’d say within the next couple of weeks we’ll have ourselves a Captain America, I hope.”
